Annual Child Safety Statement of Compliance 2026
Reporting period: 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026
Our commitment to child safety
The Net Zero Economy Authority (NZEA) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children. We remain compliant with the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework and have zero tolerance for child harm or abuse.
We are committed to upholding child safety and regularly review our policies, procedures and practices to strengthen child safety and wellbeing across all areas of our work.
Overview of child safe practices
NZEA has limited direct interaction with children. We consider child safety in activities that may involve children and take steps to ensure those activities are consistent with the Commonwealth Child Safe Framework.
NZEA may engage with children and young people through:
- public events and exhibitions (workplace and off site)
- children visiting the workplace with parents (workplace)
- agency celebrations (workplace and off site)
- community of interest events (off site)
- promotional activities in relation to career pathways, employment and training opportunities (off site)
- third party funding arrangements
- online environments.
Given the nature of our business, we implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations in a way that reflects NZEA’s functions and level of contact with children. We recognise child safety as a collective obligation and promote awareness and shared responsibility among employees.
Annual risk assessment
NZEA conducts risk assessments to establish the extent of NZEA's contact with children and to evaluate risks to child safety and the effectiveness of NZEA’s risk controls. The overall residual risk rating for the reporting period in 2026 has been assessed as low.
