Meet NZEA’s local Hunter team

NZEA has established a stronger regional presence in the Hunter, bringing more of its team closer to local workers, businesses, and communities. 

The local Hunter team is now made up of 6 employees; 4 in the Lower Hunter and 2 in the Upper Hunter. NZEA has a small office space in Newcastle.  

The Hunter is a priority region for NZEA because the region faces significant change. Coal-fired power generation is reducing and new industries and opportunities are emerging. NZEA is already working with communities, workers and businesses in the lead up to the closure of the Hunter’s Eraring Power Station. 

Having a local team means NZEA can build strong relationships with those on the ground and draw on the team's existing knowledge as local residents and community members. 

NZEA has already engaged extensively across the Hunter. This includes the recent inaugural Hunter Advisory Committee, where representatives across the region came to share their opinions and updates on the transition in the Hunter. 

NZEA Director, Hunter Region, Tanya Peterkin said the local NZEA team is committed to seeing a positive transition in the region:

Our local team will be working side-by-side with Hunter communities and representatives to ensure the region continues to be an economic powerhouse for generations to come.
